Our First Winter

Moving In just after the holidays meant all of the pressure juggling gifts with mortgages was over. As fresh as the crisp morning air, we were ready to start our new home. Our first winter together in the new home proved to be a learning experience as home owners. Everyone knows that heat rises but we never thought our loft space with 14" ceilings would leave us freezing at the bottom.

I'll never forget waking up the first morning of snow. It felt like Christmas morning all over again, only our gift was the beauty through our bedroom windows. We were still in the mist of moving in so our room lacked any lighting but I remember our two windows glowing from the bright white snow. It was one of those memories that will always instill a feeling of warmth and happiness at my core because it was at that moment I knew we'd finally made it to our first home.
