Better With The Lights Off
Sometimes its nice to get a little moody. Moving into a loft with minimal lighting & half the space in shade meant we had to get a little creative. Rather than blast away the shadows with conventional ceiling lights we decided to embrace the darkness and highlight some of our favorite spots around the house with accent lighting. Spaces that might go overlooked during the day come alive at night bringing new depth to each of our rooms.
I've always been a fan of dimmer switches, not only for their extreme sex appeal when the time is right, but for their ability to take things down from an extreme 100%. Just as I avoid going blind at night while browsing my phone in bed, I hate having bright lights on in the room at night. Really though, it's amazing to see what character can come out of the simplest objects with a little lighting. Sometimes the simple glow of jewelry or the shadow of a plant are all it takes to create an inviting space, even in the dark.
